Contingency Planning

RMI’s team has extensive experience at a senior level in preparing for, and managing major emergency events.

Our range of services include:

·         Assessment of existing capabilities

·         Plan development and testing

·         Training and exercising of staff and senior management

·         Ongoing maintenance of Emergency Planning capability

RMI’s team have successfully completed numerous assignments, including:

·         Special Olympics – RMI was the appointed Emergency Response and Crisis Management advisor to the Special Olympics. RMI also designed and conducted exercises to validate the Emergency Response and Crisis Management capability of the Special Olympics management at all levels, from site to board level. Active participants in these exercises included the 3 principal emergency services, defence forces and voluntary organisations.

·         Organisation and conduct of emergency/crisis management exercises, which included participation by the principal emergency services and other responders/agencies.

·         A major review of the structures and resources needed to integrate effective emergency planning and public safety initiatives.

·         Organisation and conduct of emergency/crisis management workshops (including exercises) for the high-risk COMAH/Seveso establishments, which included participation by the principal emergency services and other responders/agencies

·         Review of emergency/crisis management for Airports at board, group and airport levels.

·         Organisation and conduct of emergency/crisis management exercises for national utility companies.

·         Review of emergency/crisis management for a number of Ports, which included liaison with the principal emergency services and the tenants of the Ports.

·         RMI, in association with DNV, conducted a comprehensive review of the Offshore Safety System used in Hydrocarbon Exploration and Development on behalf of the steering committee under the aegis of the Petroleum Affairs Division (PAD), DCMNR.

·         Pharmaceutical and Chemical Manufacturing Industries – audit of emergency response systems and conduct of emergency planning exercises for COMAH/Seveso establishments.

·         Oil companies – validation and subsequent development of emergency plans for installations. Also assisted with Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) compliance.
