Dermot Benn BA (Economics and Legal Science) Risk Manager Dermot joined RMI in 1997 after 19 years service as an army officer with the Irish Defence Forces. He is a graduate of National University of Ireland, Galway and a graduate member of Security Institute of Ireland. Dermot is an expert on Threat & Risk Analysis and Operational Security Consultancy. During his military career Dermot served in a variety of Intelligence, Operations, Military College and Overseas positions. Since joining RMI, Dermot has specialised in advising National and Multinational PLC’s and Semi-State companies in managing operational and security risks through security design and project management. Specialising in Aviation and Maritime Security Dermot has audited over 100 airports in Europe, conducted Aviation Security Awareness Training for Flight Deck and Cabin Crew for several airlines and conducted Security Assessment Reviews and developed Security Plans for most of Irelands port facilities (ISPS code compliance). In addition Dermot has lead many assignments in the area of National Critical Infrastructural Protection and Major Commercial Operations. These have included Power Stations, Telecommunications and Rail as well as Banking, Pharmaceutical, ICT and FMCGs. |

Joan Colfer FCA Financial Controller Joan joined RMI in 2000 as Financial Controller. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, having completed her training with BDO Simpson Xavier, followed by ten years FC experience in the telecommunications industry and the financial services sector prior to joining RMI. |
| Niall Duffy B.Sc. Risk Manager
Niall is a Risk Management Specialist and has extensive experience in scoping, developing and implementing risk management systems in both the public and private sectors, particularly in the areas of Contingency Management. Niall has designed, developed and conducted scenario workshops & follow-up sessions to facilitate key players in identifying and assessing critical hazards and their risk levels. Clients include the major banks, major food & beverage producers, alternative energy providers, and major retailers. Niall has also worked extensively on Incident Management and Emergency Planning assignments with the main utility providers in Ireland, i.e. ESB, Bord Gáis, and Eircom. Internationally, he has worked on Enterprise Risk Management assignments in the US and the Caribbean. Prior to joining RMI, he was a Captain in the Irish Defence Forces where he gained extensive experience in training and exercising for abnormal, adverse events as a platoon commander in the Army Ranger Wing. He served in the both the Training and Communications Directorates at Army Headquarters where he was involved in the development of high level training frameworks and the roll-out of communications programs. Niall served in the United Nations in the Middle East. He is a member of the Irish Institute of Training and Development, the Business Continuity Institute and the Institute of Project Management of Ireland. |

Peadar Duffy B.Sc Chairman Having served 15 years as an officer in the Irish Defence Forces, Peadar is Founder and Chairman of RMI which he established in 1993. Peadar's experience spans many risk management disciplines including critical infrastructure protection, scenario planning and development, and the development of risk management programs across large organisations. Peadar spent much of the period 2001-2005 in the US where he undertook research into the area of enterprise risk management and the development of methods for the identification of major risks with potential to destroy value. Much of the research has involved the global insurance and risk management players in Chicago, Washington DC and New York who in recent years have discovered that typical hazard / insurable risks rarely destroy company value. In Jan’08 Peadar returned from the Middle East where he had spent the previous two years coordinating business development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain. Peadar has responsibility for certain key customer accounts and leads the development of our global alliances across the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia. |

Peter Egan Director Peter Egan joined RMI in 2006 following over twenty years at Senior Management level in the financial services industry in Ireland. He was previously Managing Director of Centurion Card Services Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of Ireland Group and prior to that was Country Manager Ireland for American Express, with overall responsibility for the American Express Travellers Cheque, Travel and Card businesses in Ireland. Peter led American Express to achieve Ireland’s premier Quality Assurance award, an achievement which at that time caused American Express to become only the second financial institution in Ireland to do so. He has significant experience in leading cross functional teams located in Europe and United States. He was a member of the American Express Worldwide Marketing Board for Global Franchise Partners. Using his in-depth corporate and organizational experience Peter leads RMI’s Strategic Risks services Peter is currently a member of the prestigious World Presidents Organisation, a network of senior corporate individuals located throughout the world. |

Tony Hickey Head of RMI Investigations and member of the RMI Advisory Board Tony retired from An Garda Síochána (Irish Police Force) holding rank of Assisting Commissioner having had at various times command responsibility for the northern eastern and Dublin metropolitan regions. In his last posting he was in charge of the national units which included, The National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NBCI), Garda Bureau Fraud Investigation (GBFI) and the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB). In the course of his career he was involved in major investigations into Homicide, Drug Trafficking and the activities of Organized Crime. |

Detective Chief Supt. (Retd.) John McGroarty Whistleblower John joined RMI in 1999. John is a former Detective Chief Superintendent of An Garda Síochána. In that capacity, he was National Head of Europol and Interpol as well as Chief of International Liaison. Prior to these appointments, he had been Head of the Garda Drug Squad. John's distinguished Garda career includes a series of noteworthy positions inclusive of his role as Head of Presidential security spanning two Presidencies, membership of the Government Inter-Departmental Committee on National Security while holding a similar position with the Irish Banks Standing Committee on Security. He has trained with the FBI, DEA, British Police Forces (including Scotland Yard), International Civil Aviation Authority and the Irish Management Institute. John has trained in management with the IMI and holds a Diploma in Criminology. John is currently Special Services Manager in RMI with a responsibility for police and authority liaison at National and International level. John is an expert in the area of data protection legislation. He is responsible for the appropriate management of RMI database information. |

Raymond O’Mahony Risk Manager. Since Joining RMI in 2000, Raymond has been involved with clients in the financial services, utilities, pharmaceutical / chemical and Semi–state sectors delivering a range of services from Incident Management development and training through to the conduct of security risk assessments and the subsequent development of security management systems capable of dealing with the risks identified. In recent years a greater portion of Raymond’s work has involved assignments for Irish companies operating abroad, some of whom are doing business in potentially difficult environments including Pakistan, Indonesia, South Africa and Georgia. Prior to joining RMI, Raymond served as an officer in the Irish Defence Forces where he gained considerable experience both at home and overseas in operational and training appointments. |

Cathal O’Neill B.Comm. NUIG Chief Executive As a commissioned officer of the Irish Defence Forces for 20 years, he served in many appointments including operations, training and intelligence postings at home and overseas with the United Nations, primarily in the Middle East and the Balkans. During this time he gained considerable experience in all aspects of conventional military and special operations, in support of State security services. Cathal works with clients in many sectors including: Government and semi-state services, Financial Services, Aviation, Maritime, Transport and Logistics, ICT and Irish and multinational companies with significant worldwide international operations. Cathal is a subject expert with regard to prisons. In addition to experience whilst serving in the military, he was significantly involved in the security planning and design for the Thornton Hall Prison Project in all its aspects. Cathal has also been involved in the PPP project to design and build the new National Convention Centre located in Dublin – an iconic building with a significant set of security requirements as part of the Government’s design brief. He developed the security concept and strategy, and assisted the security design throughout the project. |

Jim Seward B.E. M.B.A. Manager Jim has over 25 years experience in information technology and project management gained in a variety of industry sectors. Jim’s role in RMI includes Information Security, Project and Process Management, Strategic Planning and Execution. |

John Smyth A professional corporate governance specialist with extensive experience in Ireland, UK and Europe. He is a Chartered Director, Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators and the Chartered Institute of Bankers UK and holds post graduate diplomas in corporate governance and company direction. A former Chief Executive of First National Building Society / First Active plc he is a director of various companies including Irish Public Bodies Mutual Insurances Ltd and Meningitis Trust Ireland. He has led various industry associations and professional bodies in Ireland and was a founding Council member of both the Ombudsman Scheme for the Credit Institutions in Ireland and the Management Committee of the Institute of Directors Centre for Corporate Governance at University College Dublin. He was Chairman of the Consultative Committee which produced a Code of Practice for Corporate Governance Assessment in Ireland in March 2010. |
