Training, Tests & Exercises

RMI has an extensive training, testing and exercise capability.

We conduct an average of 3-4 training events per month.

Scenarios which are addressed include:

·         Top 10 Business Risks / Major Contingencies

·         Major Emergencies

·         Security Breach and Special Risks

There are three broad categories of testing and exercise which are summarised as follows:

1.             Orientation and Familiarisation (O&F) with roles and procedures

This is advisable when new plans are developed or new people are introduced to new roles and or / new procedures. In our experience many organisations wrongly assume that just because people read and say that they their understand roles, responsibilities they in fact do not.

2.             Table Top Exercise: Exercising Decision Making Processes

Once people are oriented and made familiar with their roles, responsibilities and relevant procedures it is important to then exercise them in their decision making processes. In our experience Table Top Exercises very often throw out issues, lack of consensus and poor understanding of the management of abnormal and adverse issues which are what precipitate crises, incidents and emergencies in the first instance.

3.             Simulation Test / Exercise: Operations, Logistics, Press / Media
